what’s your power
‘What’s Your Power?’ is a children’s show that uses dance as a tool to spread an important message about discrimination – encouraging us to see our differences as gifts and ultimately, as superpowers.
The piece sees four ‘school children’ struggling with their rare gifts and abilities which they are often bullied for and therefore try to hide from others. For example, being able to shape-shift into an animal, moving at supersonic speed, having the power to move any object without touching it, and so on.
The children are invited to a School of Magic where the Professor (who has Telekinetic powers himself) shows them that they can control and utilise their skills and that their differences are something to be celebrated. Using humour, slapstick and a range of Hip Hop dance techniques, ‘What’s Your Power?’ is a story of empowerment and reassurance for young audiences.
